Developing Relationships with the Media – The Art of the Story
Ever wonder why some organizations get all the press? Of course, they are doing good things, but
so are you – so, what’s the difference? Every so often, we do something spectacular and the
media just arrives at our doorstep but, for the most part, that’s just not how it works. If you want
publicity, you have to ask for it. That means understanding what stories you have to tell and
telling them in an appealing way. It also means having relationships with the press and
understanding what they are looking for and how media organizations work. In this session, you
will learn how to identify what’s newsworthy, understand what appeals to reporters, how to
establish relationships with key media and how to publicize your organization.
